What is wrong with me that I find this funny?

(Got this off thesuperficial.com)

"Faith Hill was performing in Lafayette, Louisiana over the weekend when a fan grabbed her husband Tim McGraw's crotch. Faith scolded the fan, saying: 'Somebody needs to teach you some class, my friend. You don't go grabbin' somebody else's -- somebody's husband's balls, you understand me? That's very disrespectful.' That's some deeply profound advice right there. Only in Louisiana would you have to tell somebody that grabbing another woman's husband's balls is frowned upon. "

I didn't realize she was onstage when she said it - she's sure making her PR person work for his paycheck lately!

Don't bug me!!!

Wow, what a week! It just kind of flew by. I can't even remember most of what happened last week, I'm not sure if that's sad or not. Had lunch with Dad on Monday, and lunch with Mom and Dad on Wednesday. I know we went to Best Buy at some point, I'm really not sure if it was this week or last week...I think we had dinner with J's dad on ?Wednesday?. Everything is so anticlimatic after HP is over. Nothing to look forward to...boo hoo hoo (just kidding). Seriously, I guess I just floated through the week. It happens.

Today, Ian brings Molly to me and says there's something in her mouth. I see she's chewing, and there's something suspicious on her lip, so I stick my finger in her mouth to clear it out and I pull out......a bug!!! Gross!!!! After I stopped yelling and jumping around and vomiting (kidding, no not really, okay yes, I'm kidding) I look at where I flung it and it was some sort of beetle-looking thing. Ugh. She seemed pretty happy. I don't remember the other two ever eating bugs. Ew.

Going to tea with Mom and Ellie tomorrow. Should be fun. Not sure what to wear.

Speaking of wear - I went shopping for school uniforms for the kids today. Spent almost $500 and still have to buy BB shoes, PE uniform, and sweatshirt, and Ian still needs sweatshirt and jacket. That doesn't count school supplies like pens, paper, school bags, etc. Jeeze Louise it's gotten expensive! In the good old days you didn't have to send your kids to school, you could make them WORK!!! Then, not only did you not have to buy school supplies, they would bring you their paycheck! Ah, the good old days before child labor laws...

Wednesday is J and my 15 year anniversary! Has it really been that long? Looking at pictures, we were babies!!! Wow, I can't believe it's been 15 years of love and happiness. Mostly. Just kidding - love you babe!!! Looking forward to Fire of Brazil - anybody want to babysit three wonderful kids for one evening? Bring your own bugs.

Wow, what a weekend!

**Still not going to talk about the actual story yet**

Well, the bookstore party was great! J got sick and left around 10pm, but Dad showed up so that was good. I think he had a good time - many thanks for Ian's book and your donation towards our "deluxe" edition. BB was adorable as Hermoine, she did enter the costume contest, and was not a sore loser. The winner and runner up were adorable! Fawkes the phoenix won and Fleur de la Couer was runner up - great costumes for both girls - homemade and very creative. Fawkes whole family looked good - brother was Serius (complete with mustache - I think he was about 7 years old?), mom was Tonks and dad was Hagrid. Talk about a family activity! The adult costumes were great too - Snape, Madam Rosmerta, Prof. Trewlaney, Prof. Umbridge, Tonks, several "schoolgirls". BB had a great time with Kenellie's youngest nephew - She wanted to play with him Saturday and was sad to hear he was returning home (?Florida?). I think Ian had a good time - he mostly hung out and read anime and goofed off a bit too. I was a little dissappointed about the "freebies" this year: glow-in-the-dark HP specs for everyone, and then they tossed a few keychains, but not many. Kenellie was very generous and gave theirs to BB, our group of 10 only caught 2 keychains, which were given to the youngest members of our party (you guys are so sweet).

Kenny told me they picked up book 1 for SIL(E). I am excited for her that she's beginning the series - I hope she loves the story as much as I do! Something about the series just kind of pulls you in and hooks you from the start. I think she'll really enjoy them, especially since she liked the movies. Now when SIL(H) will start reading them is the next question - you can glue another cover to the front if you're embarassed!!! Or are you afraid you're going to love it???!!!

I spent so much time reading, and the book covers quite a bit of time (months) that between that and actually doing activities (shopping, BBQ with friends) this weekend, it seems like it lasted forever!

FINISHED!!!!

As a courtesy to my other family members who are still reading, I will not say anything except, it was great!!! Can't wait to chat about it with you!!! (and thank you for sleepy-sleepy, Molly)

Total blackout

No live TV, radio, or internet until I'm finished reading the book. All I can say now is I'm on page 400 and still don't see where it's all going. So far - great book!! Sleep, Molly, sleep!

Time goes by so slowly...

Actually, it's moving kind of fast. Today's the day! We're going to the B&N book party on the Westbank. BB will be dressed as Hermoine. I washed and braided BB's hair yesterday so that when I unbraid it tonight it will be very wavy. She's got a Hogwarts robe and I made her a S.P.E.W. pin to wear on it! Now I just have to find her wand. I think she'll be very cute, but I told her she can't cry if she doesn't win the costume contest. I will be wearing my Leaky Cauldron T-shirt. I'm sure J and Ian will be disguised as muggles. It's going to be a long night, as the party starts at 6:30 and the book does not go on sale until 12:01 am. There should be lots to do, though, and I'm sure we'll have a good time. Hopefully "Hermoine" will not get too crabby! I think Chiapop might stop by and Kenellie may come with some young relatives.

Happy Birthday to my favorite boy!!!*

*no, not Harry Potter!!!

Happy 14th birthday to Ian!! I can't believe he's already 14, where has the time gone? On my "gift" CD from Jerrod, there is a song, "Beautiful Boy", (this version is) sung by Ben Harper, that makes me think of Ian everytime I hear it. I feel like I'm going to turn around and he's going to be a man and he's not ready for it yet. I'm not ready for it yet. I'm excited to see the man he is going to be and sad he's not going to be my little boy much longer.

I (heart) N.O.

So I'm at Wal-Mart today, getting Molly out of the stroller and the groceries in the car, and two women run into each other behind my car (no, not in their cars, they're walking). Lady A says to Lady B "Girl, it's been so long, what have you been up to? Are you still working at (insert store name here, at this point I wasn't really paying attention)?" Lady B says, "No, girl, I got fired for fighting."

Now, you would assume her reply would run something like this: "OMG! Did someone attack you?", or maybe "Wow! What happened?", or even "Oh, I hope you're okay". But no, Lady A's reply was, "Again?!"

And that, my friends, is why I (heart) this town!!

I solemly swear I am up to no good...mischief managed.

The movie was awesome!!! Yes, they left a lot out, but it was a huge book! (It has been a while since I read the book, so I really can't pinpoint how many "big" plotlines they left out) I enjoyed the scene in the wizard court, and the D.A. scenes as well. The battle at the end was very good too. The audience clapped after it was over. I missed "Mr. Weasley" scene, as BB had to go to the bathroom. I thought this movie had a lot of humor, and I enjoyed seeing the characters' development. The theatre was full, and that created some interesting side notes...

The guy sitting next to me guffawed loudly at all the jokes, sometimes laughing so hard he leaned forward out of his seat (it was a bit distracting), he also did some wild arm movements when things were getting exciting. I would say about 10 times during the movie he was either falling out of his seat, laughing very loudly, or waving his arms. I say this because...after the movie was over, we were waiting near the restroom, and I told SIL(E) "I will never call us HP nerds again, because I was sitting next to the biggest nerd ever! He was doing that loud nerd laugh and was all over the place" , at which point I realized he was standing 3 feet away and heard the whole conversation!!! I felt so bad! I lamely tried to cover it but really did not succeed very well at all. I hope he didn't leave feeling badly, he did have a date, so maybe he was okay (I hope...can you see I'm trying to make myself feel better?) Then, as we were leaving the building, I pushed open the exit door and it got stuck. Kenny's door opened right up, so I pushed harder, still stuck. I could see some kids out there, so I decided it was some punk kid playing a stupid game, so I pushed even harder. Finally 2 guys and a girl came from out behind the door and she had only one flip flop on...the other was stuck under the door. I guess they were leaning on the door (stupid) and they never said stop or wait or anything when I started pushing (stupid), so when I passed I said "sorry, I didn't know anyone was behind the door" (because my mamma taught me right), but they just stood there looking at me and her shoe (idiots). They were probably 15 or 16 and looked like they came from nice, middle class families, so they should have known better.

Yesterday BB asked me how old chiamom is. I told her 23 and she said, "no, how old is she really?". I told her I wouldn't tell her b/c she always tells people how old I am and maybe grandma didn't want everyone else to know how old she really is. So BB said, "okay....but is she over 100?" hahahahahahahaha!!! I couldn't help it, I laughed out loud! When I answered negative, she said "oh, good".

That's it for now. Ciao!!!

I just found this on Post Secret - love it!!!

They learn early... (do not read if you are eating)

First of all, I did finally get my gift! It was a compilation CD of John Lennon songs by various artists benefitting Amnesty International's Save Darfur campaign. It's terrific! Thank you, baby!!!

My shirts came in! They look great and they fit - yay! I can't decided which one to wear to the movie and which one to wear to the book sale. Damn I'm such a HP nerd! Mom and Dad saw the movie last night but Dad has kindly agreed not to blog it until we see it - thanks Pop!

So, since J is out of town this week, I took the kids to Panda King for dinner last night. Now, I know I've blogged before about the almost instantaneous reaction we have to chinese buffets - aka bathroom run. Well, last night while we were eating, I fed Molly some of the food - mac and cheese, rice, Jello, a bit of beef noodles. During the meal Ian had to "feed the catfish" (at the restaurant), on the way home BB stated she had to "drop the kids off at the pool", and as soon as we got home, even Molly had a full, nasty "baby burrito". They do learn early - it's what you do when you eat chinese buffet!

We've got our tickets!!!

I bought the tickets to see Harry Potter! I can't wait for Friday - yay! I think Mom and Dad are going to see it tomorrow - lucky!!! I'm sure it's going to be awesome. Hopefully my shirts will be in so I can wear one to the movie (yes, I'm a HUGE HP nerd) - I've got a wand and I'm not afraid to use it!!! Okay, not really, but if I did, I wouldn't. If that makes any sense. I guess I'm a little excited. Anyhoo, there it is.

Hmmm...another post without a title (I'll have to try this at home and see where the problem is - maybe my last title was a little too risque'?)

I stumbled across this article today...comments? This has been a pet peeve of mine for ages, a tip jar is the equivalent of a "can shake" to me, which is the equivalent of begging for money. I know I'm a bit (okay, a lot) cheap (I like to think I'm frugal) but I refuse to succumb. Maybe I should carry a tip jar so they can tip me for doing their job (ie: pushing the cart back to the store when I'm done, checking stock for my size, picking up an item if it's on the floor and putting it on the shelf, etc.). I think it teaches people that if they do a mediocre job they should get a little something extra. Tips are supposed to be for doing something extra, not talking on your cell phone while you're ringing up my purchases.

I don't know why but Blogger won't let me title this - does that mean my titles suck? This title was gonna be "Is it lazy or is it me?".

Jerrod ordered a small gift for me that he wanted delivered yesterday (the first day of the week he is out of town). As I laid my head on my pillow at 10:30 last night I was dissappointed but hopeful that it would arrive today. I don't know if it was supposed to come USPS or UPS, but at 8:00 when the kids and I got home from dinner it was still not there. I spoke with J this morning and he asked me how I liked my gift...I told him I'd let him know tonight (hopefully). He paid an extra $14 for it to be delivered yesterday, so he called them. They left it at the door at 9:32 pm! Now, this is what gets me: I was on the computer, sitting 3 feet from my front door, from 9:00 - 10:30. No doorbell, no knock, nothing. So, I don't know exactly how large this package is, if someone can see it from the street or not, but it sat out all night - luckily the kids are home and Ian retrieved the package this morning for me, but if he wasn't, it would have sat there all day (I use the back door to leave for work in the morning). But, this isn't the first time this has happened. Honestly, I can't remember if this used to happen Pre-K (that's pre-Katrina for those of you not in New Orleans, a frequently used phrase here)I guess they don't have to knock any more, which is really messed up. I would prefer that my packages not sit outside until I decide to leave or randomly get up and go open my front door. I'm not suggesting they bang on the front door and wait 20 minutes for someone to answer, but a courteous knock followed by a minute wait would be nice. If no one answers, then leave the package. No biggie, you would think.

The worst part of all of this is: Now I have to wait until this evening for my present!!!! Waaahhh!!!

Save a broom, Ride a Weasley*

Wow, only 6 days until the movie and 16 days until the book!!! I can't wait!! We're actually going to see the movie Friday instead of Wednesday as J will be out of town next week, so I'll just have to suffer for two days. I was poking around on the internet looking for a t-shirt to wear to the book party, and finally decided on this one and this one. I can't wait to find out if Snape is good or evil, or if Ron and Hermoine get together. What about Harry/Voldy? Here's my theory - ##spoiler alert## JK says the last word in the book is "scar". She also says two characters will die in this book. I think there's going to be a battle (obviously) and Harry and Voldemort are both going to die. The last line will be something like "they told their children, and their children's children, about the boy with the scar." I suppose we'll know soon enough (no not really soon enough!!!) but in the meantime we just have to wait.

*here are some other great t-shirts, I especially like "Hillary/Voldemort in '08" and "Don't make me go all Crucio on your ass"

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM AND DAD!!!

Congratulations on 38 years together! We love you both, thanks for setting a great example of what marriage should be!!

You can take the girl off the farm, but you can't take the farm off the girl

Some things I still can't get used to here...like the men ALWAYS letting the women on and off the elevator first and holding open doors, common courtesies that I haven't encountered for a long time. Well, I think they're still common courtesies. Maybe "common" is not so true anymore. At my last place of employment, the "clientelle" was mostly poor and uneducated. Now, they probably just didn't know any better, but they would just as soon let the elevator door shut on your arm as look at you, and I cannot tell you how many times I was pushed out of the way trying to get OFF the elevator so they could get ON. And the doctors were so full of their self-importance that of course they did not have time to hold the door (elevator or otherwise) open for someone who was insignificant in their grand scheme of things. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, but they were few and far between. As I have mentioned before, I was at that job for almost 14 years, so I guess I just got used to rude. Here, it is always a pleasant surprise to be let ahead with a sweeping arm gesture, or have the elevator door held open for you. But I'm afraid that having been in that "other" envirnment for so long, I may have forgotten some of the "niceties" that accompany a courteous workplace, so I'm constantly worried about commiting a social faux-pas. Here's hoping when I do it's not a big one!!!

Public Service Announcement

BB has this 3-D book of the human body. It's really cool and has pictures of additional facts and stuff. So she comes out of her room last night with the book open and walks up to Jerrod and says, "This is what your lungs look like" while pointing to a photo of a black lung with the caption "Smokers lung". Damn, that kid is funny (and smart!). She then proceeded to read to us why asparagus makes your pee smell funny and asked if we could try it!
