You can't go wrong with a girl who's got her own donkey.

Thanks to a particularly entertaining episode of "House", J and I had to explain the term "Donkey Show" to Ian. Ah, the joys of parenthood.

I'll let you in on a sad secret - As I check the blogs daily for new posts, I also check mine. Duh, nothing new, big surprise.

Christmas was fawesome!!! H1 and SIL(H) came for a great visit - I can't even remember all the things that had us rolling with laughter. The whole family was here for dinner - it was all good. AND, we're going to Houston for New Year's weekend. Since I don't have Jan 2 off, they're going to let me work out of the Houston office - yay!!! Can't wait!

I mentioned to J that we could bring SIL's wine (late Christmas gift) and BB said "SIL lost her mind? Well...she IS crazy!" haha - out of the mouth of babes!

I've spent the last few weeks with my face in a book, or should I say, lots of books- my family forgot what I look like. I've missed a whole season of House, Chuck, and Heroes. I've been in a vampire rut - it started with Twilight, then True Blood/The Southern Vampire mysteries. Then a co-worker introduced me to the Dark Hunter books (can you say sexy vampire time?), and now, most recently I just finished The Black Dagger Brotherhood series (loved it!). Also loved the Outlander series, although it's not a vampire book.

And I finally got a new cell phone, so now maybe I'll hear my incoming calls. It's got a chip of some sort so I can load music onto it for ringtones - yay!

We're thinking of heading up to visit (meet) Jerrod's grandmother this summer. She lives in Hillsboro, OR, so it will be quite a bit of work to figure out the logistics of the trip as J doesn't fly and I can't take two weeks off to drive. Basically, we're fighting over who has to keep the kids!! Maybe I'll bargain to keep the kids if we can drive to Forks while we're there? It's about 5 hours away - hmmm...it has possibilities!

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both, and there you have....

So.

TransSiberian Orchestra was great! It was a great show, the pagentry of this "band" (for lack of a better word) is unbelievable. And as an added bonus, Robin Zander of Cheap Trick showed up to play a few songs. On the other hand, the people sitting behind us (floor seats, row 9), not so great. Drunk as donkeys, loud, and TALKATIVE. We heard all about the love relationships of the band, shows they've done, what's coming up next, singing along to the music, and critiques of the evening's performance. The best parts of the night were when he was in the bathroom. At one point we, and the row in front of us, heard him proclaim loudly..."I have to go to the bathroom again. I have no bladder control!" Thanks, dude.

I took the day off Friday because both kids had half days and of I had to pick up BB at almost the same time J had to pick up Ian on the other side of the river. I decided since Molly was at the babysitter that I would take the kids to the movies. BB has been asking to see Twilight. We had a great time. BB loved the movie and is "in love" with Edward. Ian saw Will Smith's new movie "Seven Pounds" and said it was kind of a chick flick but it was good.

By the time we got home from the show, J was home from work, so we decorated the Christmas tree and Mom/Dad/H2/HsGF came over for pizza. A good time was had by all.

I can honestly say that all my Christmas shopping is done. Some of the wrapping as well. J received a gift certificate for Honeybaked Ham, so we'll be having Honeybaked ham and turkey for Christmas dinner, and we bought the groceries for the rest of the meal. (Mom, I'm holding you to dessert!) BUT, I just couldn't get my act together enough to do Christmas cards this year. Does that make me a grinch? I wanted to do photo cards but time just kept getting away and now it's too late. Oh well. Maybe next year I'll start working on it around Halloween.

Guitar Zero

I finally tried my hand at Guitar Hero today. Big deal, right? If you know me at all, you know that it is. The last video game I played was Pokemon Snap. According to Wikipedia that was in 1999. Apparently I played that game on a Nintendo 64, if that puts it into perspective for you.

So, anyway, I tried Guitar Hero. I picked an easy level, some Kiss song, I think. J started the game and away I went.....not. I wasn't hitting any of the notes - none! So J and I decided it was because I've never played and he did the colored buttons on the handle and I did the button at the base.....but I still missed most of the notes. Even BB laughed at me! Then Ian picked the guitar up and handed me my ass in a basket. Damn!

Oh, and there is nothing cuter than this: J sat down on the couch and changed the channel from cartoons to football. Molly immediately stuck her hands in the air and yelled "touchdown"!!!

I should probably mention that the above scenario happened while watching our new HD TV. Many thanks to H2 for assistance in obtaining and set up. It looks great!!

Why am I indoors blogging when I should be outside in the snow?

IT'S SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like, real, flaky snow!!! Granted, it's melting once it hits the street, but it's not melting on umbrellas or coats - it's so cool (haha, no pun intended)!!! I know, I know, underneath this grown-up exterior is a 7-year-old wanting to run and play in the snow. (9:45 am update: The snow is sticking. From my viewpoint -up high - you can see the snow accumulating on the tops of the buildings, the cars, and the park. News says it's supposed to snow until noon - yay!)

Lots of stuff and nothing at all have been going on since I last blogged. Had a great visit with Aunt S. - went to the craft fair and had a blast! Thanks for my S&WB keyring - I'm already using it!!! H1 and SIL(H) came in for the office holiday party. They were only here one day but it was sooo nice to see them! Can't wait until Christmas to see them again!

BB has been popping out with the funniest things, so I guess I need to keep a notepad handy. All I've got for you is this:

We were driving home when a Nutria ran across the road. Ian made a joke about eating it. BB said it's a living thing, we shouldn't kill and eat it. Ian asked, "Where do you think that chicken you had for dinner came from?" BB's answer: "A pig?"
