I know, I know...I never call, I never write....

I can't say how many times something funny has happened and I've said to myself, "I've got to remember to blog about this..." Yeah - good intentions and all that...

Molly grabbed my hand the other night and says, "Mommy, come see, come see!!" and shows me this:

Me: Oh how cute! It's a king cake!!
Molly: *looks at me like she's saddened by my lack of intelligence and blows out a sigh*
No, Mommy. It's a paper plate, and we cut it out and put paint and glitter and glued a crown on it.

Last night we went out to dinner, and on the way home, Bridget was telling us about a vampire book she's reading. Somehow the conversation got side-tracked, because the next thing I know, she's asking, "Vampires can't be gay, can they?" To which Jerrod answers, "Of course they can, read one of your mother's books. Oh wait, don't."

This is why I love springtime:

I took this picture standing in my back doorway. By the end of this week that bush will be a huge pink puff of color. Love it!!! (Yes, we have a "cajun chandelier" hanging at the top of that picture - we are high-klass. Jerrod and the girls made azalea necklaces this morning.

I'm thinking about taking the kids to Houston my birthday weekend so I can go see Charlaine Harris. I went out there over Mardi Gras and had a great time with Mike and Hannah. I'd make it a 3 or 4 day weekend I think (surprise M&H, lol), since we're not doing a "real" vacation this year. Of course, I still want to visit for our traditional 4th of July weekend visit too ;)

I'm super-excited about the "super moon" tonight. I love all things celestial so I've already been outside twice to look :)

Until next time....

Time to make the doughnuts...

Driving in the car with my teenage son this evening:

Me: There's the doughnut shop we ate in after we went out with Uncle Mike/Aunt Hannah.
Ian: Oh.
Me: They had a king cake doughnut.
Ian: Oooohhh - that's the place where you fell in love with the doughnut guy.
Me: I did not fall in love with the doughnut guy.
Ian: You hit on the doughnut guy?
Me: I did not hot on the doughnut guy.
Ian: The doughnut guy hit on you?
Me: *snorts* No, he did not hit on me.
Ian: Well, what happened with the doughnut guy?
Me: Hannah, Pam, Brenda, and I noticed the hot doughnut guy. That's all.
Ian: You mean you're not leaving Dad for the doughnut guy?
Me: *sigh*

Busy, busy, busy? Maybe, maybe not...

Wow, I am so far behind on blogging I don’t know when I’ll be able to catch up. A lot has happened in the last two weeks:

Bridget at parades Friday night

Bridget turned 10 on Feb 26 – double digits!!! We did a birthday dinner at Outback on the 24th, since Jerrod would be working all day and evening on the 26th. She received some very nice gifts for the big 1-0, including jewelry. She’s thrilled and feels more grown up, I think.

Molly has a pre-K parade at school on Friday. We have to decorate a wagon and prepare beads for her to throw. She’ll wear her ladybug Halloween costume and we’re going to decorate the wagon like a field of flowers. Her 8th-grade “buddy” will pull the wagon around the school while she throws beads to the other students.

Ian and Molly at the parade Friday night.

Ian has decided to accept the scholarship offer at Xavier University of Louisiana. We sent in his acceptance form yesterday; he wanted to get it in early so he’d be eligible for Spring Testing (that’s my boy!). Having him at Xavier means he’ll stay home for four more years, much to Bridget’s chagrin – she wanted his room!

In house news, I may have found more termites in our bedroom…I found some damage in our closet and I’m not sure if it’s new or if I never noticed it before because it’s behind my clothes. The thing is, it’s behind the clothes I wear on a regular basis, so I think I would have noticed it before….oh well, we knew this year might be tough on that front, which is why we haven’t started fixing the damage from last April yet.

And, today starts Jerrod’s Mardi Gras work mode – basically we won’t see him again until next Wednesday. Between his normal schedule and then working the parades, he’s going to be one tired puppy by the time it’s over.

In book news, I might be going to Houston this weekend - *fingers crossed* One of my favorite authors (two, really), Patricia Briggs and Kim Harrison. will be in Houston signing their new releases and I’m hoping to make a quick drive out and spend some quality book nerd time with Hannah! Mom and Dad offered to keep the girls, although Bridget wants to come. Jerrod will be working and Ian is excited at the prospect of being home alone. I think the way it's going to go down though, is me and the girls will be driving to Houston.

Oh – and I’m at it again – this morning as I was driving down our street to take the girls to school, I noticed some nice patio furniture setting outside on the neighbor’s curb. Yup, you guessed it – it’s in our back yard now! Yes, I asked the neighbor to make sure it was trash…it’s a nice black wicker loveseat and matching chairs with a glass top table. She said her sister gave her a new one so they were getting rid of this one. Score one for dumpster diving!!! Our old set was down to one piece and it was close to death, so now we have a nice “new” set to lounge on as the weather gets warmer and we sit outside by the pond, and it’s getting closer to crawfish boil time so now we have another place to sit/eat:

With a little paint to refresh it I think it will be just fine!

I think that’s it for now, or at least as much as my fluffed-up brain can remember!!!
