Ian Update

It's been a crazy morning, but here's what's going on:

Ian will get his wisdom teeth out April 2 (Good Friday) and will have his knee surgery April 13 at Children's Hospital. He should be discharged sometime the next day and will spend about a week at home before he's able to go out and about, then approx. 6 weeks in various states of "crutch-iness" before hopefully being off crutches, at which point we'll start looking at the electronic-pulse thing to use on his foot/nerve instead of a brace if it works. I think it's something like this (check out what it says under "other uses" - not you Ian).

Oh geez - when it rains, it pours doesn't it?

A little advice. Tell Ian not to tell anyone about his wisdom teeth surgery. I had mine out last year (top ones were taken out while in the dentist's chair, bottom ones required surgery) and I heard every sort of wisdom-tooth related horror story whenever I casually mentioned why I wouldn't be at school/work next week.

Everyone has a 'friend of a friend' whose ribs were broken because the dentist stood on their chest to remove their teeth, or who had a year-long infection from dry-socket. I went into that surgery with a head full of worries and in the end I was fine. I ate jelly and soup, watched Veronica Mars on DVD and was back at school in a week with minor swelling.

Good luck! You'll be a regular Florence Nightingale by the end, I'm sure :)
